Japa Meditation + Restorative (75 min)
Japa is an ancient practice in which a mantra is recited either silently or aloud. The Sanskrit word is derived from the root, jap, meaning “to repeat quietly and internally.” This practice can be done with mala beads to chant the mantra 108 times. In this all levels class, you will clear the chattering mind with Japa Meditation lead by your teacher and the core of the practice will be 2-3 restorative yoga postures resolving in a sweet sivasana. You have the option to bring your own Mala Beads ($108.00) or purchase a set at the studio.
Healthy Back Yoga Wall Level 1 (75 min)
This class is catered towards those with limited mobility or new to physical exercise or yoga. Postures are performed on the floor or with wall support as needed. The goal of this class is to reduce pain and improve back health through core strength, balance, flexibility and understanding proper alignment cues. Participants will still reap the health benefits of yoga in a low impact format.
The Advanced Great Yoga Wall level 2, 1 year Asana Practice Required (75 min)
This intermediate level class focuses on spinal rejuvenation with the use of yoga wall straps to attain a strong awareness of proper alignment and decompression of the spine through safe supported inversions on the wall. Postures are taught on and off the The Great Yoga Wall and will vary from week to week.
Pure Restorative (60 min)
In this class, props are used to create positions of ease and comfort that facilitate relaxation and health. Bolsters, blankets, blocks and the yoga chair are used to adapt each student’s body to the shape of the yoga posture. This healing practice is meditative in nature allowing the mind to slow down and the nervous system to calm. This practice is about opening and creating space, not stretching. If you are pregnant, have movement restrictions, are anxious, have PTSD, or live in today’s modern world (and yes!, the list goes on), this class is for you!
Fascial Release Yoga (75 min)
Relieve tension and deeply relax with this alignment based therapeutic class. This class is designed to release fascial restrictions, to enhance body awareness, develop better posture, and improve core strength. Lacrosse or Tennis balls are used in conjunction with foam rollers to soften tissue and challenge balance. This class is for anyone who wants the skill to relieve pain and increase energy. Each class is unique to opening up a focused area of the body.
Hatha Yoga with 3 Minute Egg (75 min)
Explore the hidden treasures of yoga’s only one-stop prop. It only takes 3 minutes when working with the egg to fall in love with this therapeutic class. Your yoga block is egg shaped and ergonomically designed to nurture the human form. Strengthen, balance, restore and smile your way through this all-levels introductory class.
Yoga 101 For the Beginner (60min)
Get a thorough introduction to yoga in the company of other brand new beginners. Take a close look at the most commonly practiced poses and learn how to support your physical structure with proper alignment and breath. This class is taught at a slow pace and is perfect for the person who is new to yoga or is starting to return to a practice after an injury.
Gentle Flow (75 min)
Level 1/Beginner’s Vinyasa: A yoga class for those newer to yoga or those wanting a basic flow class. This class introduces foundational yoga postures, teaches you how to breath and helps you feel more comfortable in the yoga practice. Although this class moves at a slower pace than the other vinyasa classes, expect to be challenged both mentally and physically.
Power-Level 2 (75 min)
This power class explores movements of the body, within precise alignment-based postural system. Enhance your practice through focus on pranayama (breath work), body alignment, and stretching. Focus is on moving from posture to posture in a safe manor increasing strength and flexibility. The dynamic rhythm cultivates inner presence by connecting movement with breath. You will build strength and balance while reducing stress. Class includes arm balances and inversions.
Somatic Movement (75 min)
This is an all levels class that explores the use of breath, gravity, dynamics, mindfulness, and improvisation as it relates to contemporary dance. Exercises are based on the body’s fundamental movement patterns. Students are encouraged to focus on the internal sensations of movement rather than the external appearances. Through this method, participants will heighten their body awareness as they develop an understanding and appreciation of contemporary dance. Individuality and expressivity are welcomed and honored in this class as we inspire one another and support each other’s growth. Please come dressed in clothes that allow for freedom of movement. Bare feet or socks on the yoga floor.
Queer Yoga (75 min)
This inclusive all levels class is open to members of the LGBTQ and supportive Allies. Labels can be harmful, especially for those of us who don’t feel as though we neatly fit into any label. This class is a safe space for you to practice. Having the word “Queer” as an umbrella term for all sexualities and genders helps to solve the problem. This class is for all, who perhaps don’t see themselves fully represented in ‘traditional’ or conventional yoga spaces. Friends, family, partners and allies alike are welcome to join finding comfort and confidence through an exploration of yoga in an environment free of judgement and expectation.
Handstand + Core (60 min)
This class focuses on proper alignment and drills to build strength and mobility needed for creating a strong handstand practice. We will build your handstand from the ground up with emphasis on proper joint warm up, body alignment, mobility restrictions, handstand conditioning drills and proper spotting. The handstand is taught in safe progressions with plenty of options. Get ready to sweat, wake up them abs, and learn to fly!
Decompress and Rest (75 min)
Allow yourself to wind down with a cozy, slower practice that stays low to the ground and incorporates support with bolsters, blankets and blocks. By using a blend of yin and restorative poses designed to massage, stretch and cleanse your connective tissues, we create a space to release and restore the body, mind and spirit. Grounding poses will help guide you toward a more healing and recuperative experience and
promote mindful rest.
Free Community Flow (75 min)
Beginner’s Vinyasa: A yoga class for those newer to yoga or those wanting a basic flow class. This class introduces foundational yoga postures, teaches you how to breath and helps you feel more comfortable in the yoga practice. This Free class is our way of saying thank you to the community for spreading the love of Ybor Restore Yoga.
